Spent the day at work periodically checking the various sites and exploring A1 Surf for Cornish beaches that would work in the forecast Northerly winds. It was down to a choice between Fistral, Watergate and Constantine so I decided to start at Fistral and work my way North. Pulled into the carpark at Fistral and it looked like a solid F5 with white caps out to sea and mushy 2-3 foot waves but it was more onshore than I expected. Not many surfers out so I decided it was safe to chance it.

Opted for my favourite combination of the Ezzy and big waveboard but it wasn't quite enough. The rip on the inside knocked 5 knots off the windspeed (which was lighter than it looked with the low altitude sun glinting off it) right in the impact zone. A few planing runs out with only one jump but some tricky tacks in horrible sea states with little wind. Got some nice cutbacks on the way in.

In the end the wind faded off too much and I could barely waterstart, lots of walks upwind too. Well worth it and a beautiful sunny evening as well.
